Delta State government has confirmed the death of two persons in the flood that is ravaging coastal communities in the state.
The state deputy governor, Mr Kinsley Otuaro, who is also the Chairman of the special committee on the flood, disclosed this, on Wednesday, after inspecting the Infant Jesus area
(Awai road), Asaba and the internally displaced persons (IDP) camp at the Asaba township Stadium.
According to Otuaro, despite advocacy by the special committee, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and other organisations, the people in flood-prone areas have continued to have attachments to their environments.
The deputy governor described the task before the flood committee as challenging even as the medical team was up and doing in attending to victims at the various camps in the state.
He called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other well meaning donors to come to the aid of the state.
Meanwhile the flood is also threatening Ewulu community in Aniocha South area.
Similarly, the multi-million naira gas plant in Okpai, Delta State, that produces 600MW of electricity to the national grid is under threat by flood as water has virtually encircled the electricity complex.
