Kano APC governorship candidate boycotts debate

HE All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje alongside nine other candidates boycotted the second political debate organised by the Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme, in conjunction with some state media including Wazobia FM Kano.
According to the organisers, out of 14 political parties vying for the gubernatorial race in the state, five parties; APC, PDM, PDP, PPN and UPP indicated interest in the debate but four eventually honoured the invitation.
Mallam Salihu Sagir Takai (PDP), Mr Bashir Ishaq (PDM), Garba Ibrahim Yakasai (PPN) and Hajiya Binta Rufai (UPP) participated in the debate.
Commenting on the abandoned projects in the state, all the candidates agreed to complete them if elected, come February 28.
All efforts made to get explanations on why the APC candidate failed to honour the invitation proved abortive.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Tambari Yabo, also warned the public against political violence during and after the elections.
Personalities that graced the occasion included the Head of Mass Communications Department, Bayero University Kano, Dr Balarabe Maikaba, who is also the debate coordinator.
