Osun APC, PDP trade words ahead tribunal’s judgment

The All Progressives Congress, (APC,), Osun State chapter, on Sunday, accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of preparing grounds for its supporters to cause violence ahead of plan by the election petition tribunal to deliver judgment in the petition filed by its governorship candidate in the August 9 governorship poll, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
Addressing a press conference in Osogbo, APC’s director of publicity, research and strategy in the state, Mr Kunle Oyatomi, said APC perceived as “security risk” the jubilation predicated on misinformation by PDP members after parties adopted their final written addresses during the last proceedings.
It will be recalled that some PDP members that witnessed the adoption of final written addresses by the parties before Justice Elizabeth Ekpejime-led panel, in jubilation, stormed major streets in Osogbo, the state capital.
But, the APC contended that it was incumbent to alert security agents in the state to be on red alert and nip in the bud any attempt by the PDP to cause mayhem, through the spread of falsehood, capable of disturbing the peace about the proceedings of the tribunal.
However, the chairman of the PDP in Osun Stare, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, described the accusation of the APC as misleading and indication of pending disgrace awaiting them at the tribunal
According to him, “Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the APC are very jittery over the looming loss of their illegitimate victory with the expected judgment of the election tribunal, which will by the grace of God, declare our candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore, as the governor of Osun State”.
“It is crystal clear that they are going to lose. PDP is a law abiding political party. The APC have brought into the state hundreds of thugs and hoodlums from neighbouring states. Some of them attacked our House of Representatives candidate for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin federal constituency ,last Wednesday ,at Ikirun”.
While contending that the PDP abandoned its case at the tribunal, Oyatomi said the party listed over 1,000 witnesses to support its petition, but later shrank number of its witnesses to 500 and by the end of its presentations, only called 43 witnesses.
