The Election Petitions Tribunal hearing matters arising from the general election in Osun State has granted the application by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun-East senatorial district, Mr. Francis Fadahunsi, to inspect materials used for the conduct of the March 28 poll.
The PDP candidate’s lawyer, Chief Wole Oke (SAN), who moved the application before the Justice H. Kanyip-led tribunal on Tuesday also moved an application for substituted service on Senator Jide Omoworare who was declared the winner of the election.
The tribunal granted the two applications moved by the petitioner’s lawyer.
Oke told the panel that the Independent National Electoral Commission and the All Progressives Congress had been served with the petition but his client decided to approach the panel to serve Omoworare by pasting the notice on the wall of his residence.
The Osun-East senatorial election was the fiercest in the state during the 2015 general elections.
Security agents had to be deployed in Ilesa when the result of the poll was declared as tension rose before the situation was brought under control.
